My recent trip to the Science place in Fair Park - Dallas TX
How I feel about the auto maker bail out and other stuff. I call B$
I rarely dabble in politics on this blog. But this really pisses me off. As if the recent bail out on wall street that cost us tax payers $700 billion wasn’t enough, we are now talking about bailing out the auto makers. This is bull shit. All of these big corporate companies that have been wasting money for all these years are getting what they deserve. As a American, I am so tired of our government not listening to the will of it’s people! What in the hell has happened to the country I love? What is wrong with the elected officials? I will tell you what is wrong … MONEY. It is all about the money, the special interests and the lobbiest. If the politicians in our country had to live a day in the life of a middle class American, they would see how much they shit on the very people who make this country move, make the economy grow, and who pays most of the taxes. I am so tired of paying for shit. Whatever happened to us being a capatilist country? We are moving closer to Socialism than ever - Our country is blind to this, Our people are ignorant, Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves and the common citizen sits content with this clusterfuck of a nation we are creating. Wake up people - This has nothing to do with Democrats, Republicans, Independents or whomever being in charge - this is a failure of the American people as a whole to take care of this country we should love and adore. At the rate we are heading, our country will be nothing of what it is today. Our freedoms will continue to vanish, moraility will be destroyed, civil liberties gone…. I don’t want the country that every generation of my family and other people’s families spilled blood for to be taken for granted. This is America!!!!!! ACT LIKE AMERICANS.
Rarely used and known about Linux commands that rock!
Linux is a awesome operating system with unlimited potential due to being open source, flexible and well designed. Hidden within Linux is a treasure trove of commands that even some Sr. Administrators may not know about. I have listed some of these below:
#1. dmidecode - dmidecode will give you essential information on hardware in the system. a example of this being the need for bios manufacturer and version information should you need a potential bios update.
Example:
# dmidecode -s bios-vendor && dmidecode -s bios-version Phoenix Technologies LTD 2.1
#2. nohup - This allows you to run a command that is immune to hangups
#3. head -n1 /etc/issue - displays the current operating system. You can also cat /etc/redhat-release or /etc/debian-version
#4. cat /proc/partitions - Will display all registered partitions in the system.
#5. rlogin - this comand will connect to a remote host with the same username and password you are logged in with. rsh will also do the same thing.
#6. dosfsck - fsck DOS partitions
#7. tracepath - a simplified version of traceroute
#8. shred - overwrites a file making the contents unrecoverable then deletes it.
#9. warnquota - emails users who are exceeding their disk quota
#10. swap on and swap off - These two commands will enable and disable your swap file.
#11. mpg123 - Play mp3’s via command line - program must be installed.
#12. hdparm -tT /dev/sda - does a disk speed test

Flashback - 1980’s DogPatch U.S.A.
This is sort of a somber post. When I was a young kid I remember my parents taking me to DogPatch U.S.A. It breaks my heart to see it in such a condition. I have alot of good memories form this amusement park in the Arkansas Ozarks. I wish that more kids could have experienced this place - Dustin

Strange face I caught years ago in a antique house in Missouri
The above Picture was taken in November of 2004 at a relative’s house of mine in Northern Missouri. I was out taking pictures of the snow as it was a beautiful day to snap shots so I just started snapping pics of the surrounding area. It was much later after examination that I noticed a face in the window in one of my snapshots. Can you see it? It was very obvious to me and most people I have shown it to has seen it. But for those who cannot see it, I have a images that will help as shown below:
You should be able to see it now! The house shown in the pictures I have visited since I was a little boy and continue to visit to this day. For privacy reason I will not say what city it is in but I will show you a shot of the full house. There is a black mark I added that covers the address. If a serious investigator is interested please let me know.
Bittorrent for RedHat Enterprise 5 - Packaged with installer
Anyone who uses RedHat enterprise will find that plugging into third party repositories to get non standard software is risky. Today I needed to install bittorrent and noticed that the redhat enterprise 5 repository does not have what I need. Well, I got the packages needed and built a installer so that anyone using RedHat Enterprise 5 can install bittorrent easily.
————-
Instructions:
login as root or su
wget http://larmeir.com/downloads/rhel5-bitorrent.tar.gz
tar xvzf rhel5-bitorrent.tar.gz
cd bittorrent-rhel5
sh bt-install.sh
————
And that is it! You will have a fully working bittorrent installation. You can find the commands in /usr/bin
# ls /usr/bin/ | grep bit
bittorrent-console*
bittorrent-curses*
bittorrent-tracker*
To start downloading a torrent us bittorrent-curses
/usr/bin/bittorrent-curses (url or path to torrent with no brackets)
Enjoy! - Dustin

Our new American president. Barack Hussein Obama
Our new American president. The Democrat party has also now taken over the House and Senate. I hope that Barack Obama will bring the change that America needs, however I won’t have faith until I see it happen.
Get out and vote!
